Robert Vander Leest
Robert is Skylight’s resident first tenor. He listens to many types of music, but really enjoys the special vocal blend in four-part harmony. Robert, along with his wife, Khela, and their 3 children, reside in Western Michigan where Robert owns and operates a successful computer graphics business.
Robert is an avid sportsman and enjoys basketball along with reading, spending time with his family, and singing all types of music! His love of music extends beyond Southern Gospel as he has sung with various praise teams and the Grand Rapids Singing Hims’ Men's Choir.
His prayer is to bring Gods message of hope and salvation through music to those who need to be lifted up and a message of salvation to those who might not know Christ.
Kurt Vander Loon
Kurt Vander Loon is Skylight’s bass vocalist. In his limited spare time he enjoys boating, hunting, and spending time with family. He has a long heritage in Southern Gospel music and attended the prestigious Steve Hurst School of Music. He is the owner of the Embroidery House in the Jenison, Michigan. Kurt has two adult children and resides in Zeeland, Michigan with his wife, Trish, who he calls his "Gift" from God.
Kurt considers it a privilege to share the gospel message on behalf of the Lord and enjoys the blessings received from worshipping with fellow believers. Kurt’s gift of encouraging others to use their God-given talents toward furthering the kingdom is a passion he takes very seriously in his everyday life and music.
Joseph Hoy is Skylight's newest member and resident baritone. He likes listening to many types of music but southern gospel is his favorite. He loves the way four part harmony sounds. Joseph has been married 22 years to his lovely wife Tammy and they have two grown children. Currently living in Knox, a small town in western Indiana, he is a Dietary Manager at an Assisted Living Community in Michigan City, Indiana. Joseph loves watching collegiate basketball and football and singing southern gospel at his hometown church.
His love for music didn't stop with southern gospel where he was a praise and worship leader for five years. His prayer and heart is that singing with Skylight will help enhance the kingdom, uplift people, and hope to see salvation come through the music of Skylight Quartet.
Mike has been with Skylight for the past three years as lead vocalist. He attended and studied music at Liberty University and has sung throughout the US and Canada for the past 45 years.
Mike loves all things sports, especially baseball and hunting. Like the rest of the Skylight guys, he puts a high priority on spending time with his four children and seven grandchildren. He and his wife Mariann reside in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area where Mike serves in full time Christian service as a member of the Calvary Church staff.
His prayer is that Skylight continue to share God's message of love and hope to a world longing for peace and contentment in Jesus.
